Raymond H. Luhta January 21, 1936 - May 7, 2020

Raymond H. Luhta, 84, of Oval passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at
the Williamsport Home. Raymond and his wife the former Harriet McNitt
were married on July 18, 1959 and celebrated 60 years together.
Raymond was born on January 21, 1936 in Negaunee, MI and was the son
of John and Impi Pyykkonen Luhta and was raised on a dairy farm in the
Finnish community of Uusi Suomi in Michigan ’s Upper Peninsula .
He was a 1954 graduate of Negaunee High School, a 1965 graduate of
Michigan Technological University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
He retired in 2001 following 30 years with Anchor Darling Valve working
in many different countries in nuclear power plants. Raymond served
his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Community Lutheran
Church, Suomi, MI and attended Oval United Methodist Church where he
sang in the church choir. He enjoyed hunting and winter sports, most of
all, time with family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one Brother, John Luhta of
Alpena, MI; two sisters, Ruth Paulin of Glen Ellyn, IL, Irma Cole of
Carmichael, CA; two sisters-in-law, Jane Bierley of Jersey Shore and
Suzanne (Donald) Richards of Williamsport; twenty three nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Viola Brunelli, Helen
Miljour, Kerry Troutwine and Norma Korpi.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Oval Cemetery with Rev. Daniel J. Havrilla officiating. Please bring a lawn chair to the service for seating.
