Michelle J. Nickolaus December 12, 1968 - October 3, 2021

Michelle J. Nickolaus, 52, wife of Kevin C. Nickolaus, of Loyalsock passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at the Gatehouse Hospice Center. Michelle and her husband Kevin were married on Aug. 14, 1993, and celebrated 28 years of marriage.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1968, in Phoenixville and was the daughter of Michael J. and Mary Jo (Tarone) Gaydos.
Michelle was a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University School of Nursing with a B.S. in Nursing. She practiced as a registered nurse from 1990 to 1997. A 1997 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing with a M.S. in Nursing, Michelle practiced as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner for 24 years. As a Nurse Practitioner, Michelle specialized in cardiology and Adult Congenital Cardiology. She practiced at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, UPMC Susquehanna and Geisinger Medical Center. Recently, she was appointed a fellow of the American College of Cardiology in recognition of her contribution to the field of cardiology. She was a tireless advocate for her patients who always looked for the best possible care and treatment for them.
As a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Montoursville and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey, Michelle was a long-time catechist.
Michelle was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time with family enjoying the outdoors. Most recently the family completed a 36-day RV trip across the country including 17 states and 7 national parks. Michelle was also a die-hard Penn State football fan and enjoyed attending games and tailgating at the games.
In addition to her husband and parents, Michelle is survived by two children Matthew and John both living at home; a sister Mari (Christian) O’Drain of Schwenksville; a nephew, Connor O’Drain; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville with Father Michael S. McCormick officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Church from 10 to 11:45 a.m. The service will also be livestreamed; go to mattnickolaus.com for the link. Family and friends are also invited to the burial service at 12 p.m. Oct. 15, 2021, at the Hershey Cemetery, Hershey, Pa.

    My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. I worked in the surgery center with Michelle at UPMC and she will be remembered always for the amazing care she provided and assured for her patients, and also as a wonderful friend. So sorry for your loss. Always, Courtney
