Joseph Andrew Koch, Jr., 97, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 7, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Bayonne, NJ, son of Theresa and Joseph Koch on July 2, 1923.
He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in May 1944, with a mechanical Engineering degree and married Marie Kuzmuk on June 24, 1944. Enlisting in the Maritime service, he went to Officers’ Training School in Fort Trumball, CT. Upon graduating he received his Coast Guard license and 2nd Lieutenant rating and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas of operation until the war ended and he was honorably discharged.
In 1947 he was employed by Pullman Kellogg in Jersey City, NJ and was transferred to Williamsport in 1960. Before retiring in 1987, he was Manager of both the Engineering and Estimating Departments and Supervisor of Contract Management. He participated in the recovery efforts for Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies were gardening, reading, bowling, and playing bridge. He was a member of the Yarborough and Loyalsock Bridge Clubs and a member of the Williamsport Bridge House.
He and his wife Marie celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. Surviving are daughter, Patricia (Ted) Fullmer; sons, Joseph (Dong-Wook) and David (Dong-Hwi); seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a brother Walter. He was predeceased by his wife in 2018 and a brother Edward.
